Who we are

We are a small, family business that was born out of a passion for creating unique clothing for babies and children. At our studio in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa we individually craft each of our products before sending them out across the country through our online shop. Although we supply a limited range of our goodies to a small selection of retailers, our aim is to keep our products affordable and accessible by selling mainly online and delivering throughout South Africa.

We are proudly South African and dedicated to supporting local wherever possible. For this reason most of the materials we use are produced and sourced locally.

Threadbear is an expression of creativity that has been inspired by more than 25 years of experience in clothing manufacture. 

 

What we do

Our speciality here at Threadbear is making original clothing and accessories for babies, toddlers and young children using Shweshwe, one of South Africa’s most iconic fabrics. We use only the original authentic Three Cats Shweshwe range from local producers, Da Gama Textiles. This joyful and vibrant fabric is 100% cotton and, although tough enough to withstand all kinds of activities, is comfortable and softens beautifully with every wash.

Each item that leaves our studio is individually handmade. We keep our batches small and regularly update our range with new styles and designs to ensure that every product remains distinctive.
